Ah the joy of reinventing the wheel. There's no thrill quite like it. Slipping past the bounds of recorded documentation, and trying to build something you've only heard about in passing.

At least this time, I made an effort to use off the shelf parts.

Here in Philadelphia, to get broadband requires a letter to your congressman. I tried to play it their way. Really. I waited patiently for the cable modem. My last DSL line was down more than it was up. (Sir, your DSL line has a dial tone!)

When I was picking out my new digs, I snatched up a place about 1 block away from my office. (At the illustrius and as yet unnamed science museum that happens to be on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.)

The distance is about a quarter mile.
